Abstract
Patients with spinal cord injury have an increased risk of sequelae due to altered skin sensation and reduced or lack of voluntary muscle activity. Prevention of pressure sores, spasms and pain is an important part of the lifelong rehabilitation offer. The hospital's patient groups are assessed as potential users of the reversible mattress, and consequently it is important to investigate and quality-assure the use and usefulness of the mattress.
The Tidewave mattress is compared with the compressed air mattress CuroCell 4 AD with regard to the development of pressure marks, functionality, perceived sleep quality, noise, pain, spasms and resource use in the nursing service.
